Dresden-based artist Sebastian Hempel makes works that are simple to understand but reward the viewer for spending time observing. His low-relief sculptures occasionally edge toward science museum display but I enjoy trying to understand how they’re made.

I remember finding the first issue of Wired on the desk of a guy at a software company I was interning at when I was 16. It was like finding a Playboy that was written expressly for me and designed so anyone much older couldn’t or wouldn’t read it.
