I love getting mail. Real mail, not just an e-mail that takes a moment to type and click send. Snail-mail, as it is so rudely referred to often now, takes some effort, especially if you go to the post office. However, it’s all worth it. That feeling of opening your mail box and finding a postcard, letter, or best of all, a small package from someone who you not only knew was thinking of you, but made the time to organize it, seal it, and send it on it’s way.
Personally, I love making postcards. Getting a photo I’ve taken, using colored tape and paint, collaged snippets of a quote or a magazine image, making some ironic or snarky comment that is silly or stupid or gross. Who wouldn’t like that?
That said, here is your opportunity: I want to make you a postcard. With my first book available for purchase only online, it feels a bit impersonal to me. So I’ve decided to make a small offer to anyone who orders a book; I will make you a special, handmade postcard personally.
Above is a just a small example of the kinds of postcards I make. Please let me know what you think of this idea…
